You are in check when your opponent has 4 creatures on the board. Check means that your opponent can win in his/her next move unless you do something to stop him/her. Also, the game says "Check!" and all the opponents cards have the word "check" on them when you are in check.

Im not going to build you a complete deck but will point out a few rules to follow:

1) Novogus Catapult should always be included (without exception)
2) never use more than 8 from one element, use 8 only in extreme circumstances when very well planned.
3) never use less than 3 from any element including Biolith
4) Always have at least 4 magic attack options and at least 1 that can do more than 1 damage.
5) Always have a min of 2 or usually 3 field quake opportunities (with few exceptions)
6) Always start by choosing a hero (and - or) noble and build around it
7) Gods are rarely a good choice of card but can be very well used however require very good planning.

I don't agree with all of them either:

1) Not always, I don't want any in my Biolith decks (usually just one earth field and too expensive next to the already expensive bioliths), I'm not using them in my speed deck either, although they go (1 or 2) in pretty much every other deck.
2) I've seen all Earth decks be pretty succesful, but I guess that falls into your well planned addition, so I mostly agree with this one.
3) Very much disagree, especially about the biolith comment. Most of my decks contain no more than 1 Biolith creature, if that.
4) Makes sense.
5) I usually have 1 or 2. Three only when my deck depends heavily on one element's field, like it might do in discard or dodge decks.
6) Disagree with the and/or Noble part of this one. Take a Hero, period. Nobles are optional, can be useful, but are definitely not required, I've played a lot of different decks and they're about 50/50 with/without a Noble.
7) Gods are a waste of space in almost any deck if you ask me. I never use them. Granted, they CAN be useful, but it's too situational, I prefer cards that I know will be useful no matter what.

Anubis80 wrote:Ok 1 more question. Like I said i have never played online except once and used a precon deck lost of course but what does it mean when you are in check? i hear you guys talk about it all the time.

Uhm, being in check is one of the very basics of the game.....if you are that new to the game, may I suggest you watch the instruction/tutorial videos within the game. They will tell you about 80% of the basics of the game (for some reason they left out some basic info like: a fortress card cannot attack, but you will find most of that stuff out soon enough and you can always ask around here when there's something you don't understand.

Also, before going online, just try and create your own deck and test it out against the computer. Don't use any setting lower than Normal and preferably higher. Although you will probably loose a lot of the games on higher settings at first, they will familiarize you with game rules and some of the cards and combinations out there.

Good luck!

one of the biggist whipping I ever took at this game and what stands out was when some high rank player cast Phaseus on me via a Behemoth Groundbreaker that he has just used to take out at least 1 of my creatures before hand, casting a god through another same field creature was not even a move i was aware of before this game, then on the very next move the played Phaseus via with Scion's Riotous Impunity completly wiping me out just for fun before he went on to win the game, I sure did learned something that day

I had the same thing happen to me once, but it was with an Elven Exalted Deity and SRI. But in over 500 online matches that only happened once, and in most games I see Gods being discarded. Like I said: they CAN be useful, but too often are just discard fodder.

Which points do you disagree with?

i don't agree with these points:

Point 2:
I have 9 earth creatures in my deck of which a few have defense so you don't have to place them on earth like arelai and Novogus golem. I also place novogus catapult on a none earth field if possible cause i want him to get killed further in the game and i have 2 of those. This way i have enough place for earth creatures on their own element.

Point 3:
I only need 2 bioliths cause there are to many element creatures which i definately want in my deck so i don't have room for them.

Point 4:
I have 3 magic attackers which are Flame Magus twice and Aluhja Priestess. I have multiple clare will's banners which i mostly use for these 3 creatures so high cost mana magic attackers are not needed.

Point 5:
I would never take 3 fieldquake cards in my deck cause 9 out of the 10 times you don't play longer than 20 moves (unless you run biolith decks)so you don't need to fieldquake that much.

Point 6:
Even when i have no choise i never start playing hero's. use them when it comes out the best. for instance if you need to do really high damage for not to much mana use didi. if you want to get in check and not having your opponent killing your weak creatures if they are on earth play arelai as your fifth card. point i'm trying to make is, don't waste your hero's in the beginning of the game.
I never use Nobles, they are to expensive imo.

These are ofcourse personal ideas but these things gave me many winning games.

I think he meant start with picking a Hero when building a deck, not while playing a match. I'm actually pretty sure that's what he meant
