in general i would advise to challenge people that you know are active here on the site and on psn (in your list).

ok the thing is that i cannot challenge anyone i want cause my ELO is low and the people that play have high ELO..will look for more player to play

I have a question .. about a week back I played Dempireon for a ladder game and at around round 18 he was losing, got pissed and left. I entered the game as forfeit by him. Of course he didnt confirm as he didnt for any of the other games we played. I got 0 ELO gain because of auto confirmation , so I let Mark know. Mark re-ran the script for the ELO and I got my points for all games but the ladder one.

So my question is , did I use the forfeit option correctly? I dont see it ever used before on the game results.

And also, am I not supposed to gain ELO on a forfeit match or is that a bug? After the script was manually ran by mark Dempireon lost ELO for that match, I just didnt gain any of it.

Forfeits lose the forfieting player ELO but there is no gain for the winner.
In your situation, it would have been better for you to enter the game as an 18 turn win for yourself.

Hmm I didnt know I'd be penalized by using it.

Why would anyone choose the forfeit option then and when does it really apply?

Forfeits are for challenges (which can't be avoided if within defined margins).
This is to avoid people sitting on their rank (ELO) without playing.

If higher ranked player refuses to play, then he gets penalized and thus drops in rank (ELO).

However, as to avoid abuse so that active players would constantly challenge non-active ones
as to get free points, the winner in a forfeit is awarded nothing.
