what are the timescales on this? I have been out of it for a long time for a variety of reasons and work is still mega-busy, but I'd like to try and get back into EOJ if possible.
Of course, i don't want to commit to a tourney if I don't have time to play, so please let me know
cheers

for the group stage you should could count about 3 weeks in total to play your other 3 opponents.
Afterwards, its max 2 weeks for every match in a direct knock-out phase.

With Christmas just around the bend, you either get more play time or less playtime... I sadly fall in the second category. When do you think this tournament will start and finish? (Yes, I know, depends on registration and players...)

Signed up, excited for more shuffle layout. I'm going to let my stepson tonypdh sign up for this one as well now that his schoolwork is stable and doing well. I have a request that if possible we not be in the same group in the first round if at all possible. We draw from the same pool of cards so games against each other limit our play possibilities slightly. If history is any indicator, I won't make it past the first or second round and I expect about the same from him.

Taking into account the holiday period, i'll be more flexible for the group stage when necessary AND related to players actually trying to get their matches played as well as communicating to me about it.

signed up as well. If it turns out there are not enough people to make even sets of 4 player groups. I'll bow out so the tourney can start as opposed to waiting for enough people to enter.

ShadowKen wrote:let us try to make it 4 groups of 5 players for the group stage
Good idea SK to try and extend the group stages, playing up to 8 games (4 matches) certainly makes the effort put into making and testing new decks more worthwhile. The tournaments seem to be running nice and smoothly now with clear, reasonable deadlines for each stage. Well done everyone for this.
The only thing that still may need clarifying is what happens when a player forfeits part or all of their matches. Entering a 2-0 win in the tournament module during the knockout stages both won in 1 turn is a pretty straight forward way to deal with the quarter finals onwards. It becomes more complicated during the group stages especially, for example, if a player wins or draws their first match and then forfeits the rest. No need for a debate, I just think some procedure could be put in place to cover such situations.
1 more person needed for 4x5 groups!!!
